The Inter-institutional PhD in Education has been projected to training education, pedagogy, and didactics researchers as far as it seeks to develop the required competencies to produce new knowledge, thus influencing the acquisition and critical transformation of culture. Students join research groups academically formed around different emphases, and during every process they generate products or preliminary research results in addition to papers that may be published in indexed journals. The Program Coordinator, Maximiliano Prada Dussán, describes it as an opportunity for a high-level research training where students have close contact with domestic and international, avant-garde communities that reflect on education and pedagogy by seeking to generate knowledge. This graduate program has professors with national and international recognition for the quality of their research, which makes them related to current trends. “This is a doctorate to rediscover yourself, to be creative. Here you should devise original research. It is to think beyond the limits of what is well-known, to think big, engendering a relationship of freedom with learning”, Prada says. UPN classrooms are a setting to advance towards educational transformation required by the country from an analytical and accountable place, by considering the circumstances of the current context from our weaknesses and strengths.
