Undergraduate training programs
Specific subjects devoted to reception and production of knowledge of all educational levels and types related to teacher’s training.
Professor
A teacher who performs academic teaching activities for undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs, but he/she simultaneously or alternatively is involved in research, outreach, institutional management activities and those ones set by other supplementary rules.
Staff Professor
A scholar hired by public merit-based contest of who is in probationary period or the teaching career.
Occasional Professor
A scholar hired by selection of merits for a period of time of less than a year according to the needs of the service.
Lecturer
A scholar hired for hours by selection of merits for an academic period of time according to the needs of the service. Usually, a professor working up to 16 hours per week.
Full-time contract professor
A staff professor who is committed to carry out all of his/her work exclusively to the University and, consequently, cannot have any other labor relationships or contracts for services with other public or private institutions.
Full-time professor
A staff or occasional professor working 40 hours per week.
Part-time professor
A staff or occasional professor working 20 hours per week.
Auxiliary Professor
A staff professor with university degree and accredited two years of skilled professional experience or proved outstanding performance during his/her undergraduate studies.
Assistant Professor
A staff professor who has met the requirements to become an auxiliary professor and the other requirements established by the University Professor Statute of the UPN (Agreement 038 of 2002 of the Higher Council).
Associate professor
A staff professor who has fulfilled the duly requirements to become an assistant professor and the other requirements established by the University Professor Statute of the UPN (Agreement 038 of 2002 of the Higher Council).
Senior Professor
A staff professor who has met the requirements required to become an associate professor and the other requirements established by the University Professor Statute of the UPN (Agreement 038 of 2002 of the Higher Council).
Non-formal academic programs
Non-degree programs for educational purposes, such as certified courses, free courses, workshops, seminars and congresses, among others.
Research programs
Particular research projects related to national and international educational issues, which are submitted and implemented by Faculties, Institutes and Research Center of UPN (CIUP), following their specific regulations.
Accumulated weighted average
A result after dividing the sum of the products of the scores of all the academic subjects taken during the career according to the amount of credits by the sum of the total completed credits.
Semi-annual weighted average
A result after dividing the sum of the products of the scores of each academic subject according to the amount of credits by the sum of the total completed credits by the student during the relevant academic semester.
Specific test
A test to measure general knowledge regarding a bachelor's degree an applicant wants to register as a basic part of the selection process.
Additional test
A test applied replacing a partial or final evaluation, i.e. when a student has failed to take it by force majeure or an accidental event.
Academic registration
An act by which in each academic period, the student registers the subjects that he/she undertakes to attend, following the established procedures.

Every academic activity carried out on the nationwide that requires support to its start-up.
Academic semester abroad
A program which allows the student to take a semester in a university abroad. Admission can be got by inter-institutional agreements but does not involve reciprocity, except homologation and recognition of the course. Students may apply following two annual notices posted by the Office of Inter-Institutional Relations (ORI).
SIGAN (Integrated System of Standardized Academic Management)
An academic system which allows the University to heighten the development of the academic-administrative processes.
Readmission
A new admission given to the student who has lost his/her status for a period of time not exceeding one year but he/she wants to continue his/her studies. It shall be granted only once.
Re-entry
A type of re-entry to the University which a student may request after a previous total register cancellation approved, or a place reservation made.
Place reservation
A register adjustment which consists of the enrolment reservation authorized by the Faculty Council to an admitted applicant who because of events duly certified cannot begin his/her studies.
Reference terms
A document containing the specifications and requirements about the scope of external notices and their relevant implementation.
Research Master's Thesis
A research whose methodological thoroughness reflects the acquisition of scientific competences suitable to skilled academic knowledge, which may be applied to a specific study as a result of new pedagogical knowledge and processes supported by technological instruments and procedures.
Advanced Master's Thesis
A research applied to a case study, which offers a solution for a specific problem or analysis of an actual event related to issues under research by a certain group involved.
Specialization thesis
A thesis focused to examine a certain study by collecting and processing information, or producing a monograph related to one of the issues under research, otherwise a proposal to improve the professional career.
Transferring
An admission given to those applicants who wish to continue their studies at the University, after started them in another institution of higher education duly recognized by the State, or after finished them in a Higher Normal School with which the University may have an agreement.
Internal transfer
A transfer to a program other than that current one by any regular undergraduate student of the UPN who has also passed at least two (2) semesters.
