The Bachelor’s Degree of Recreation and Tourism is the first curriculum in Colombia that offers professional training aligned with these social areas and academic fields, i.e. Recreation and Tourism. Performing their work, students will be distinguished as critical and creative thinkers and managers of experiences for building-up new subjectivities
This program assumes training critical-creative teachers who may enable alternative and transformative experiences, and may be aware that educational social act is a broad and complex field of analysis where it is possible to extend the practical range of recreation, leisure and free time. Thus, the Bachelor in Recreation and Tourism should be an educational researcher of his/her constant and updating pedagogical practices related to the contents and methodology of the relevant recreational and tourist pedagogical knowledge; and able to get, bring about and manage dynamic, alterative and inclusive alternatives against the several discourses and hegemonic devices that impair contemporary time and rooms.
Particular features of the Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Tourism
The Bachelor’s Degree of Recreation and Tourism is an academic piece that seeks an academic and social development of the recreation sector in our country; by the very nature of its knowledge, it has a continuous assessment and reestablishment, that is, reflecting, thinking, confronting and rebuilding itself based on alternative and alterative proposals that enables a transformative pedagogical knowledge. After taken recreational events as an object of analysis, currently our Bachelor’s Degree has based the relevant subjects and studies upon temporariness, territoriality, experiences and environment concepts, so Tourism has been joined to Recreation both in practical and essential terms –taking into account major social and economic impacts– as a field of study and pedagogical intervention in favor of sustainability and equity as powers to build up other possible worlds in our societies.
Pedagogical and didactic guidelines agreed by the institution following a methodology and a program type
According to the central role of the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional and regarding the education of future teachers, specifically training bachelors in Recreation and Tourism, our duty is providing the country innovative and challenging proposals for contemporary educational contexts, where issues should be assumed with renewed eyes in front of the current Colombian society. Consequently, a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Tourism assumes so far training critical-creative teachers and thinkers of alternative and transformative experiences, who also be aware that educational social act is a broad and complex field of study by which it is possible to extend a practical range of recreation, leisure and free time.
