About Us

 

The Bachelor of Performing Arts responds to one of the most pressing needs of the country: to train trainers in performing arts who are able to act in diverse educational settings with a contemporary, investigative and interdisciplinary sense in order to contribute to the appreciation of education through performing arts as one of the key aspects of human and social development to contribute to the improvement of the life quality of the social body of culture.  

Graduates of the Bachelor of Performing Arts are known as arts educators with a broad sense of social responsibility in terms of pedagogy, scenic and research. With high competence levels to define problems, propose actions of educational transformation, teamwork training, lead research projects, and develop sociocultural processes involvement with impact on our communities. 

 

The main training center for teachers, researchers, teachers and thinkers of the arts in the various fields of them and all levels of education in Colombia. 

 

The academic unit of UPN actively participates in determining policies on arts education for education in Colombia.

 

 

The expertise agency that supports local authorities at national, regional and local level in the development and implementation of projects in art education at the primary, secondary and higher education level; and formal, informal and non-conventional education.

 

 

The workplace, the place of controversy, of creation and research of a group of educators, artists, art educators, scholars and researchers in art education who are academic community and, as such, contribute actively in understanding, giving a new meaning and, in general, in the generation of culture mapping and artistic practices in Colombian scenarios. 

 

 

A place where developments in education, arts and art education are analyzed, discussed and interiorized at national and international level. 

 

 

A place to get in touch with our peers and the like regarding the training of art trainers nationally and internationally; giving special attention to American entities in order to carry out knowledge exchanges and encourage mobility of students and teachers. 

 

 

A place in which artistic and pedagogical practices are achieved to the University in its various spheres of action.

 

 

A scenario in which the artistic and pedagogical educational expedition originates as a project, leading us to acknowledge and be acknowledged by the country through trade and barter of our creative works, practices and discourses of the art pedagogy.

 

 

The territory of non-violence, the stage of symbolic acts of affirmation of human rights, the place of diversity and inclusion. 

 

 

 

 

 

Our objectives

 

To be involved as an educator training in the performing arts does not mean to train as an actor nor designer nor drama director. Rather, it means to explore and experience; analyzes and studies of the performing arts in a dynamic historical understanding, advancing and not rooted in paradigms that seemed to define drama in previous centuries. Also, exploring our Bachelor of Performing Arts means dealing with research purposes the multiple ways and several meanings of body, speech, object and image; both in educational settings and social rituals, not to mention the artistic circles in which the performances come to life and materialize the culture ideologies.
